Bending Dynamics and Materials Lab

Assembly and disassembly techniques for the ETS7 bevel gearbox, identifying tolerances, clearances and locking systems.
MePA code: ABX-TP8134

About this solution

Lab Objectives

The lab is designed to give students and trainee technicians a complete hands-on experience in mechanics applied to power transmission. The main objective is theoretical and practical knowledge of the structure, operation and assembly of a 3-stage bevel gearbox, through the assembly and disassembly of real components following professional instructions. Students will be guided in learning:

  • Assembly and disassembly techniques for the ETS7 bevel gearbox, identifying tolerances, clearances and locking systems.
  • Analysis of the mechanical geometries of bevel gears, gear wheels and transmission shafts.
  • Configuration of transmission ratios, studying the stage 1 and stage 3 options.
  • Use of technical documentation, such as exploded drawings, 3D sections, parts lists and CAD data.
  • Quality management in mechanical assembly operations.

Educational Aims

The lab has a strong educational and vocational focus and was developed to take students along a progressive hands-on path, from conceptual analysis to complete assembly. The main educational aims are:

  • An in-depth understanding of the kinematics and dynamics of mechanical reduction systems using bevel gears.
  • Development of operational skills in maintenance and mechanical design.
  • Training in the use of professional tools, according to DIN and ISO standards.
  • Strengthening technical drawing skills, including the interpretation of sectional, exploded and 3D views.
  • Interdisciplinary learning, with applications in mechatronics, metal technology, drive engineering and maintenance. The training package combines printed and digital manuals, interactive CD-ROMs, CAD data (IGS, DWG, STL, STP) and video tutorials, enabling a blended, multichannel teaching approach. tec2SKILL® Mechanical, a digital assistant with augmented reality support, allows assembly operations to be visualised and simulated directly from a smartphone or tablet.

Conclusion

The lab dedicated to the ETS7 3-stage bevel gearbox is a complete, modular and up-to-date teaching resource, designed to give participants concrete skills they can put to immediate use in the mechanical and industrial sector. The modular case with genuine components, combined with an extensive set of multimedia and digital resources, makes it possible to tackle complex topics such as gear kinematics, professional assembly and the quality of mechanical transmissions effectively. This training path prepares students not only to know how to do things, but also to understand and document every stage of the technical process, making the most of the integration of theory, practice and digital innovation.
