Objectives
1. Understand the principles of optical and ophthalmic technology
Students learn the physical basics of optics, the characteristics of materials and the technologies used to manufacture and assemble spectacles, with reference to the relevant standards.
2. Use equipment specific to the optical sector
The lab includes focimeters, thickness gauges, PD meters, drilling machines, lens edgers and spectacle centring systems for precision exercises.
3. Develop design and quality control skills
Using 2D/3D CAD software and tools for geometric and optical inspection, students create virtual frames and technical drawings and check compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Promote safety, ergonomics and technical dexterity
The learning environment is equipped with protective devices, ergonomic benches and tools for working safely on the plastic and metal materials commonly used in eyewear.
Learning Aims
1. Train skilled technicians in eyewear production
The programme allows students to acquire practical skills in the manufacture, adjustment, fitting and inspection of visual aids according to technical and functional standards.
2. Combine knowledge of technical drawing and industrial design
Students develop skills in designing eyewear models, taking ergonomic, aesthetic and technical factors into account, with the help of dedicated software.
3. Promote awareness of standards and quality
Using inspection instruments fosters attention to product quality and compliance with national and European regulations (ISO, CE).
4. Encourage teamwork and operational responsibility
Activities involve cooperation in working groups to handle the assembly, measurement and inspection stages, strengthening autonomy, precision and collaboration.
