Objectives

1. Acquire chemical and analytical skills in oenology

The lab provides analytical balances, spectrophotometers, pH meters and titrators for carrying out qualitative and quantitative analyses on wines, musts and organic samples, promoting precision and scientific rigour.

2. Try out micro-vinification processes

Using stainless steel vats, small presses, manual crushers and bottle stoppers, students safely simulate every stage of winemaking, from crushing to corking.

3. Apply viticulture knowledge in practical contexts

With vine models, microscopes, field tools and sampling kits, students analyse leaves, soils and insects and address the agronomic management of the vineyard.

4. Ensure safe working in a scientific environment

The lab is equipped with extraction hoods, acid-resistant sinks, reagent cabinets, first aid kits, PPE and safety signage to simulate a real working environment.

Educational Aims

1. Train technicians for the agri-food and wine sector

The lab develops the practical skills needed to work in wineries, quality control laboratories and agronomic services with certified technical abilities.

2. Combine theory and practice across the wine supply chain

The activities cover chemical and physical analyses, cellar practice and viticulture, promoting an interdisciplinary approach based on direct observation and experimentation.

3. Encourage collaborative work and scientific documentation

Shared management of analyses, organisation of the lab and production of reports foster responsibility, communication and technical reporting skills.

4. Promote a culture of quality and analytical control

Thanks to advanced instruments and certified consumables, students understand the importance of precision in the agri-food supply chain, including from a sustainability perspective.
