About this solution
Lab Objectives
The lab is designed to:
Extend and deepen skills in digital technology and microelectronics, using expandable and reconfigurable modules connected to the µ-Trainer system. Enable the design, construction and testing of complex digital circuits and logic systems, using integrated circuits, flip-flops, counters, GALs, A/D and D/A converters and universal logic modules. Develop practical skills in measurement, diagnostics and firmware development, using serial interfaces, USB, communication modules and analogue/digital measuring instruments.
Encourage learning through guided experiments, practical exercises and project development, in a safe, modular setting that fully meets the needs of technical and vocational education.
Integrate hardware and software training to prepare students for real applications in electronics, automation and embedded systems.
Educational Aims
The lab enables advanced educational aims to be achieved, particularly in the following areas:
Advanced digital technology
Design and analysis of combinational and sequential logic circuits using real components such as NAND, NOR and XOR gates, flip-flops, counters and registers
Synthesis of complex logic functions using Boolean algebra, Karnaugh (KV) maps and De Morgan’s laws.
Simulation and practical testing of encoders, code converters and computational circuits (adders, subtractors, comparators).
Microelectronics and microcontrollers
Acquisition and interpretation of analogue and digital signals using 8- and 10-bit ADC and DAC modules.
Use of interface modules for I²C, EIA232, USB and SPI communication, for data transmission between the microcontroller and external systems. Programming and testing of modules on a breadboard using the prototyping module, for free or guided design activities.
Measurement, debugging and PC interaction Use of PC measurement interfaces to display, record and analyse electrical signals with an oscilloscope, voltmeter, transient recorder and spectrum analyser.
Real-time monitoring of digital circuit operation thanks to built-in LEDs, buffers and short-circuit-protected measurement modules.
Personalised and guided learning
Use of TechnoCards, student and teacher manuals, photorealistic worksheets and CD-ROMs with sample programs, for a clear, progressive and structured learning pathway.
Exercises with teaching templates and graphic cards, helping students focus on individual concepts or circuits.
Conclusion
The lab dedicated to expansion modules for digital technology and microcomputing is a highly flexible, complete and professional teaching platform, ideal for training in electronics, automation and embedded systems. Through an experimental, modular and scalable approach, students are able to design, build and test real circuits and systems, developing cross-disciplinary skills that combine theory, practice and design ability. Working with converters, programmable logic, interfaces and measuring instruments enables them to tackle the challenges of Industry 4.0, digitalisation and hardware/software integration with confidence. The lab is therefore a strategic tool for ITS, technical schools, PCTO and vocational training centres, offering complete preparation for the technical profiles of the future. This solution includes technology systems that help foster inclusion and equal opportunities through the use of innovative teaching methods. Designed to promote active and collaborative learning.
