Learning outcomes
The lab develops theoretical and practical skills in safety, compliance testing and professional instruments for electrical installations. Students will be able to:
- Understand the structure of the supply network and of consumer systems.
- Select protective measures according to the requirements of the installation.
- Use measuring instruments correctly according to DIN VDE 0100-410, 600, 105-100, 0701-0702 and DGUV V3.
- Interpret measurement results and draw up initial and periodic test reports.
- Commission low-voltage switchboards and document the work carried out.
- Create flowcharts to organise tests and inspections.
Lab objectives
The “Measurement Technology – Installation Safety” lab makes it possible to:
- Apply technical standards for electrical safety (DIN VDE, DGUV V3) in real settings.
- Use professional instruments (TRMS multimeters, clamp meters, power analysers, thermal imaging cameras).
- Carry out advanced diagnostics of faults in residential and industrial electrical installations.
- Analyse power quality: harmonics, flicker, inrush current, transients.
- Manage data with dedicated software for traceability, predictive maintenance and technical reporting.
Educational aims
The training programme aims to:
- Teach electrical safety and a culture of prevention in the workplace.
- Train qualified technicians in measuring and testing real installations with advanced instruments.
- Train critical and diagnostic thinking in interpreting anomalies and instrument data.
- Provide career guidance towards the maintenance, testing and quality of electrical installations.
- Foster inclusion with accessible technologies (touch displays, graphical interfaces, visual tools).
- Address learning fields 2, 5 and 6: safety, installation engineering, sustainability and maintenance.
Conclusion
The “Measurement Technology – Installation Safety” lab offers complete training in standards, instruments and good practice in electrical testing.
Through the use of professional equipment and guided activities, students acquire practical technical skills, diagnostic abilities and awareness of regulations.
The programme promotes the integration of theory and practice, technical responsibility, energy efficiency and safety, effectively preparing students for work in electrical installation and maintenance.
