About this solution

Lab objectives

The lab is designed to provide a modular, practical and flexible environment, with the aim of:

  • Extending and deepening skills in digital technology and microelectronics through reconfigurable modules connected to the µ-Trainer system.
  • Enabling the design, construction and testing of digital circuits and complex logic systems using real components such as flip-flops, counters, GALs, AD/DA converters and universal logic modules.
  • Developing practical skills in measurement, diagnostics and firmware development using serial and USB interfaces, communication modules and analogue and digital measuring instruments.
  • Supporting learning through guided experiments, practical exercises and project work in a safe environment that fully meets the standards of technical and vocational education.
  • Integrating hardware and software training to prepare students to use real-world technologies in electronics, automation and embedded systems.

Learning aims

The lab aims to achieve advanced learning objectives in the following areas:

Advanced digital technology

  • Design and analysis of combinational and sequential logic circuits with real components such as NAND, NOR, XOR, flip-flops and counters.
  • Synthesis of complex logic functions using Boolean algebra, Karnaugh maps and De Morgan’s laws.
  • Simulation and verification of encoders, code converters, adders, subtractors and comparators.

Microelectronics and microcontrollers

  • Acquisition and interpretation of analogue and digital signals using 8- and 10-bit ADC and DAC modules.
  • Communication with external systems via I²C, SPI, USB and EIA232 protocols.
  • Breadboard design with prototyping modules, in both free and guided mode.

Measurement, debugging and PC interaction

  • Use of PC-connected measurement interfaces to display and record electrical signals (oscilloscope, voltmeter, transient recorder, spectrum analyser).
  • Real-time monitoring of digital circuits using LEDs, buffers and short-circuit-protected modules.

Personalised and guided learning

  • Use of TechnoCards, manuals, photorealistic worksheets and CD-ROMs with sample programs.
  • Exercises with teaching overlays and graphic cards to focus on specific concepts.

Conclusion

The lab dedicated to digital technology and microcomputing is a complete, versatile and professional educational platform, perfect for training in electronics, automation and embedded systems. Thanks to its modular, experiential approach, it allows students to design, test and build real circuits, developing up-to-date transferable skills.

Working with converters, programmable logic, interfaces and measuring instruments prepares students to tackle the challenges of digitalisation, Industry 4.0 and hardware/software integration with confidence.
