Automation Lab – VDE/DGUV Protective Systems and Measures

The training package on network systems and electrical protective measures gives students the fundamental skills for commissioning, testing and maintaining electrical installations in accordance with current regulations. Using experiment boards, professional measuring instruments and complete teaching materials, students learn to manage TN, TT and IT networks, analyse faults and draw up inspection reports in compliance with VDE and DGUV regulations. The hands-on approach, supported by realistic simulations, helps students acquire the operational and problem-solving skills essential in the electrical sector.

About this solution

Learning objectives

Structure of the public supply network / incoming supply system. Network system of the consumer installation. Selection of protective measures for the consumer installation. Selection and use of measuring and test instruments to carry out measurements in accordance with: DIN VDE 0100-410, DIN VDE 0100-600, DIN VDE 0701/0702, German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) – Regulation 3. Interpretation of measurement results. Applying the provisions for initial and periodic tests and drawing up a flow chart of the required measurements. Assembly and commissioning of low-voltage switchgear combinations and drawing up an acceptance test report. Carrying out initial and periodic tests of electrical installations and drawing up a test report.

Lab Objectives

  • Analyse electrical distribution systems (TN, TT, IT and variants).
  • Install, configure and test domestic installations and protective devices (RCDs, circuit breakers).
  • Carry out initial and periodic tests in accordance with regulations (DIN VDE 0100-600, 0105, DGUV 3).
  • Simulate electrical faults and measure residual current, insulation and loop impedance.
  • Draw up inspection reports and flow charts.

Educational Aims

  • Build technical and practical skills in electrical safety.
  • Promote the correct use of measuring instruments and a critical reading of the results.
  • Help students understand the importance of protection against electric shock and of current regulations.
  • Prepare students for technical management and consultancy in electrical installations.

Conclusion

The lab provides a solid practical and regulatory grounding in the safety of electrical installations. Through simulations and real measurements, students acquire the fundamental skills needed to work in the electrical sector, with attention to quality, safety and compliance. This solution includes technology that supports inclusion and equal opportunities through innovative teaching methods. It is designed to promote active, collaborative learning.
