Automation Lab – Experimental Modules: basic circuits, wiring and diagnostics

A hands-on pathway with transparent modules: 8 projects from the basics to stairwell lighting. Panel wiring, standardised diagrams, commissioning, fault simulation, technical documentation and safety.
MePA code: ABX-TP2034

About this solution

Objectives

1. Designing and building basic electrical installations

Students learn to design and assemble residential electrical installations using experimental modules with real components such as switches, relays, sockets and lamps. The principles of insulation, connection and cable laying are covered.

2. Understanding how circuits work

By analysing basic circuits (on/off, two-way, intermediate, stairwell, push-button), students develop skills in reading wiring diagrams, identifying components and understanding the operating principles of command and control systems.

3. Carrying out installations based on realistic requests

Each project reproduces a real electrical installation case, from the customer’s request to the technical documentation, including planning, choice of materials, execution and commissioning.

4. Fault diagnosis and repair

The package makes it possible to simulate malfunctions in electrical circuits, training students to identify faults and correct them safely, also with the help of tools such as test probes and troubleshooting manuals.

Educational Aims

1. Acquiring fundamental electrical installation skills

Through a practical, modular approach, students practise configuring the basic circuits typical of residential installations, acquiring skills useful for entering the world of work.

2. Linking theory and practice with structured exercises

The exercises are built around projects that combine symbols, diagrams, functional analysis and practical implementation, making theoretical concepts easier to absorb through direct experience.

3. Developing technical reading and documentation skills

Students practise writing and interpreting technical documentation: work orders, bills of materials, functional diagrams and installation reports.

4. Preparing for independent problem solving

Troubleshooting activities and manuals with fault cases stimulate critical thinking and the ability to tackle practical problems in electrical installations independently.
