Alarm System Lab: intruder detection, KNX and access control

A lab on building alarm systems: design, sensors and touch/PC programming. Bus/KNX integration, IP/GSM transmission, access control, VdS/EN standards and remote diagnostics.
MePA code: ABX-TP2231

About this solution

Objectives

1. Setting up and commissioning a hazard alarm system

Students learn to configure and install complete intruder alarm systems, including detectors, alarm devices, control panels and expansion modules, in accordance with VDE and VdS standards.

2. Selecting, programming and testing sensors

Using touch panels, PC software and specific sensors (motion, glass break, gas, fire, vibration), students acquire skills in selecting, configuring and testing security sensors.

3. Carrying out system maintenance and inspection

The training system makes it possible to simulate faults, test detectors with pins and aerosols, check tamper contacts and carry out troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

4. Managing access control and alarm transmission

Students configure RFID readers and keypads, integrate access control systems and program alarm transmission via IP network, GSM or telephone line, including supervision via app or web interfaces.

Educational Aims

1. Acquiring practical skills in building security

The lab prepares students to install and maintain professional intruder alarm systems, with the ability to simulate real scenarios using VdS-certified devices.

2. Linking theory with regulatory practice

The training combines knowledge of safety standards (VDE, VdS) with practical applications, fostering an in-depth understanding of alarm system design to professional standards.

3. Developing remote management and monitoring skills

Thanks to the Ethernet interface, the KNX bus and transmission via GSM or network, students learn to manage and supervise systems remotely, simulating advanced industrial or residential scenarios.

4. Preparing to work on certified systems

The course introduces the use of devices with VdS and EN approvals, providing a safe, professional environment for practical exercises on real, wired equipment and panels.
