Description
Regione Sicilia 2026 call – Technical Equipment and Teaching Aids for Students with Disabilities
The Regione Siciliana (Sicilian Regional Government), through its Department of Education, Universities and the Right to Study, has published the implementing D.D.G. (director-general’s decree) for Regional Law no. 1 of 5 January 2026, art. 17 to fund projects for the purchase of technical equipment and teaching aids for students with disabilities.
The initiative aims to strengthen school inclusion processes and to improve the quality of teaching through innovative, personalised tools.
Purpose of the notice
The call aims to support schools in creating inclusive learning environments through:
- purchasing technologies for personalised learning;
- introducing tools for augmentative communication;
- supporting cognitive, sensory and motor skills;
- improving the accessibility of school environments;
- strengthening educational pathways for students with disabilities certified under Law 104/92.
Funding allocation
The call provides:
- €1,000,000 in total;
- funds shared among schools according to the number of students with disabilities;
- funding awarded until the available resources run out.
Eligible applicants
The following may apply:
- state schools of every type and level;
- schools based in the Sicily Region;
- schools with students with certified disabilities (art. 3, Law 104/92).
Eligible expenditure
Expenditure on the purchase of equipment and teaching aids is eligible, including:
- educational software for personalised learning;
- augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools;
- Braille displays and printers;
- video magnifiers and systems for the visually impaired;
- special keyboards and assistive input devices;
- pointing systems and adaptive sensors;
- eye-tracking and dynamic communication devices;
- tools for developing motor skills;
- equipment to make learning spaces accessible.
Personal aids (e.g. wheelchairs or individual medical devices) are not eligible.
How funding is allocated
The contribution is awarded:
- according to the number of students with disabilities declared;
- on a first-come, first-served;
- basis, in the chronological order in which PECs are sent;
- until the available resources run out.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted:
- exclusively by PEC;
- from the school’s institutional address;
- to: [email protected];
- with the mandatory subject line: “Istanza L.R. 1/2026 – Attrezzature tecniche e sussidi didattici…”;
- attaching all the required documentation (Annexes A, A.1, etc.).
Required documentation
The following must be attached:
- application form (Annex A);
- project form (Annex A.1);
- resolution of the School Council;
- digital signature of the School Head.
Payment arrangements
The funding is paid in two instalments:
- 80% advance after approval;
- 20% balance upon final reporting.
Deadline
- 30 April 2026, 23:59
Project timeline
- start within 7 days of admission;
- completion of activities: 31 December 2026;
- final reporting: 28 February 2027.
