STEM and multilingual skills (DM 65/2023) – State-recognised private schools

Description

Great Opportunities for State-recognised Private Schools: Funding for STEM and Multilingual Skills (DM 65/2023)

We are delighted to announce an important opportunity for all state-recognised private schools (paritarie) in Italy: Ministerial Decree 65/2023 makes significant funding available to strengthen our students’ STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and multilingual skills. This call is a unique chance to bring innovation to teaching and to prepare young people as well as possible for the challenges of the future.

Why Are STEM and Multilingual Skills So Important?

In today’s ever-changing global landscape, STEM skills have become the driving force of innovation and economic growth. From robotics to artificial intelligence, from biotechnology to engineering, these fields offer the most promising and rewarding careers. At the same time, mastering several languages opens the door to new cultures and to international study and work opportunities, and fosters a more open and inclusive mindset.

State-recognised private schools have a crucial role to play here. Investing in these areas means giving our students the essential tools to excel in an increasingly interconnected and competitive world.

What DM 65/2023 Provides: Project Objectives and Features

DM 65/2023, published with public notice ref. no. 130341 of 9 November 2023, has a twofold objective:

  • To promote the integration, within the curricula of all school cycles, of activities, methods and content designed to develop STEM, digital and innovation skills.
  • To strengthen the multilingual skills of students and teachers.

Fundable activities must aim to deliver teaching, training and guidance pathways for students designed to develop these skills. Ensuring equal opportunities and gender equality is essential, both in the methodological approach and in STEM guidance activities. Projects may also include language training courses for teachers.

Who Can Apply?

Project proposals may be submitted by the bodies running state-recognised private schools in the first and second cycles of education. These schools must:

  • Operate on a non-commercial basis.
  • Be duly registered in the Ministry of Education and Merit’s register on the SIDI system.

Important: Each managing body may submit only one project, which may involve all the non-commercial school sites under its responsibility.

Available Resources and Key Deadlines

There is no standard amount common to all schools. Each body running state-recognised private schools will be assigned specific funding, which can be viewed by logging in to the “Futura PNRR – Gestione Progetti” platform. This funding includes:

  • A fixed amount of €5,000.00 per school.
  • A variable amount calculated according to the distribution criterion of the aforementioned decree of the Minister of Education and Merit of 12 April 2023, no. 65, in proportion to the number of students in the 2022-2023 school year (as reported by state-recognised private schools in the National Student Register and in the “Rilevazione sulle scuole – Dati Generali” survey).

Deadlines not to miss:

  • Deadline for submitting project proposals: 30 December 2025.
  • Extension for awarding service contracts (AFFIDAMENTI): The new deadline is 20 December 2024.
  • Project completion date: Remains unchanged (check the official call for the exact project completion date, which is not specified here).

How State-recognised Private Schools Can Benefit from the Call

For state-recognised private schools wishing to seize this opportunity, it is essential to submit detailed, well-structured projects showing how the funds will be used to achieve the decree’s objectives. It is important to highlight the expected impact on students’ learning pathways and on teachers’ professional practice.

Our Commitment

Our team is committed to providing support and advice to state-recognised private schools in preparing and submitting their applications.

We invite all state-recognised private schools to find out in detail about the requirements and how to take part in the call. It is an investment in the future of our young people and, in turn, in the future of our country.

Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to raise the standard of your educational offer and give your students the best opportunities to build a successful future!
