Background and Objectives of the Initiative
Under the Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza (PNRR – National Recovery and Resilience Plan), specifically Mission 4 – Component 1, Investment 3.2 “Scuola 4.0”, significant funds have been allocated. The goal is clear: to promote the creation of advanced teaching campuses in technical and vocational institutes. The initiative aims to develop innovative learning environments closely linked to the enabling technologies ofIndustry 4.0, preparing our students for the challenges of the future.
Legal Framework and Timescales
The legal basis for this measure is Ministerial Decree no. 215 of 25 October 2024, which set out the allocation of resources for projects already under way and aligned with the pilot plan for technical and vocational supply chains (filiere tecnologico-professionali). This action is a strategic part of developing students’ digital and professional skills.
Detailed operating instructions for accessing these funds were published on 3 June 2025.
The deadline for submitting applications is 4 July 2025, and applications must be submitted via the “Futura PNRR – Gestione Progetti”platform. All project activities must be completed by 31 December 2025.
Recipients and Allocation of Funds
The measure is aimed at schools taking part in the national pilot on technical and vocational training supply chains (under DM 240 of 7 December 2023) that have launched a four-year programme in the current school year 2024/2025.
Total funding amounts to €30 million, shared equally among all beneficiary schools. Each eligible school will receive a grant of €258,620.68.
Eligible Expenditure and Campus Guidelines
The funds allocated may be used to purchase essential goods and equipment, with the aim of:
- Upgrading existing vocational labs;
- Creating new interactive and integrated learning environments.
It is essential that the labs are designed according to the teaching campusmodel: multidisciplinary, interconnected facilities designed to foster hands-on learning and the application of professional skills in a synergistic setting.
The campus project must also be inspired by the principles of Industry 4.0, integrating cutting-edge technologies into the labs, such as:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Robotics
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Cloud Computing
These tools must be applied widely and consistently within learning pathways, helping to create genuine smart, connected lab ecosystemsthat offer a complete and innovative learning experience.
All official documents, the templates for submitting the CUP and the operating instructions are available on the Structural Funds portal of the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM):
